That night, he met his future writing partner, Andrew Phillips, and established contact with the IE Music label. His father, a film production worker, introduced him to Jamie Catto, a former member of the band Faithless, in 2001 it led to Rosenberg getting a two-song spot at the Free Burma Campaign benefit concert at the Royal Court in London in 2002. Prayer is not saying to a distant God, "Do this and that," but prayer is basically getting to know God. A boy prays, "Oh God, I want to pass that examination," or a girl prays, "Oh God, don't let me be the only girl who doesn't get asked by a boy to the basketball game." And if she happens to be the only one who doesn't get the invitation, she may say in despair, "Oh, I don't believe in prayer it just doesn't work." As a result, her whole spiritual life may become a mess because she has not been taught the true nature of prayer. When they find themselves in desperate need they pray, and they do not get an answer. Many people have been taught that prayer is a cheap way to get anything. Intercession is where we stop asking for something just for ourselves and our little circle and begin to plead with God for blessings for others. It's associated with the image of a pumpkin with a cut-out face, or the picture of the Puritans hunting turkeys in the fields, or the Puritans bowing their heads in thanksgiving. The child then learns about Thanksgiving Day in school. Now secondly, as a child develops a little, he's taught to say "thank you," and he's taught not only to say it to his parents, but he's taught to say to God, "Father, we thank Thee for this food." As your prayer life develops, it should go beyond this. ![]() ![]() When you're asking for something, your praying is the lowest form of prayer. It is possible to say things that are theologically wrong, and yet if the heart is right toward God, He can sort out the difficulties.īut this is baby prayer. And I'm quite sure that God is able, if the heart is right, to give us this day our jelly bread. Now this is understandable because little children do not know these words. One of the boys said, "Harold be Thy name" instead of "Hallowed be Thy name." Another said, "Give us this day our jelly bread." Another said, "Lead us not into Penn Station." Another said, "Deliver us from eagles." Then one time she called up her pupils one by one and asked each one to repeat the Lord's Prayer. Some time ago, a school teacher in New York taught the Lord's Prayer to her class, and they all learned it. "Bless Papa and Mama, and make me a good little boy." And then, "I pray the Lord my soul to keep." When you were first taught to pray as children, your prayers were primarily to ask God for things. As the soul grows, the prayer life deepens.įirst of all, chronologically, a prayer is nothing more than petition. Prayer is the growth of a soul as we come in contact with God. Your body can be in any condition, but if your soul is bold, upright, defiant against God, you know nothing about prayer. But it doesn't make any difference in what horizontal, vertical, or oblong direction your carcass happens to be if your soul is not down before God, you are not praying. Hezekiah prayed in bed with his face turned to the wall. Jesus prayed with His eyes lifted to heaven He prayed prostrate on the ground. How did they pray in the Bible? I believe you can find nine different physical positions in the Bible. Now there is no doubt that God is not interested in the physical attitude of prayer. ![]() 12/15/2023 0 Comments R miami dolphins![]() ![]() Mims is the second wide receiver recently drafted by the Jets to be traded. We’re happy to go against the grain if the result is this delicious. At the end of the day, Kiona grows eight (!) white cultivars at three of our highly-regarded vineyards here on Red Mountain. Maybe it's a combination of all of the above. Maybe we planted white grapes here before anyone knew how good the red grapes were. There is a significant opportunity cost to have a white cultivar planted here. Ergo, white cultivars are uncommon in our diminutive region, where acreage supply is low, and demand is high. The unfortunate reality is that a bottle of high-quality red wine can be sold for more than a bottle of high-quality white wine. ![]() ![]() There is an economic explanation for why white wines are not more prolific on Red Mountain: when a region produces red wines as well as we do, the financial incentive is to plant those cultivars. Still, the net result is quintessential "Ranch," and the goal is to make the best wine possible within any blending constraint. The wine includes a small Heart of the Hill component (5% Petit Verdot) its inclusion continually impressed us in our double-blind blending process. The Cabernet Sauvignon block featured in this wine holds several distinctions: it's Kiona's youngest plant- ing (2016), the highest in elevation, and the only planted off-axis. ![]() Ranch at the End of the Road sits more than 300' higher than Kiona Estate at its highest point, despite its relative proximity (~1.3 miles). Even so, site-specific, vineyard-designated wines hold a lot of intrigue. Most Red Mountain-appellated wines already have an extraordinary degree of geographical specificity since the entire AVA is only 4,040 acres. Having already featured Kiona Estate and Heart of the Hill in previous Vineyard-Series releases, Ranch at the End of the Road joins the fray for the first time with this 2018 bottling. Starting in 2015 we embarked on the goal of releasing a top-tier, vineyard-designated wine from each vineyard. Kiona Vineyards and Winery encompasses five Red Mountain sites totaling 270+ estate acres. Of the Bordeaux red cultivars grown in our region, Malbec stands out as being particularly tasty in its youth and equally at ease with food or by itself. This certainly holds true on Red Mountain, where the wines tend to exhibit a softer, svelte tannin profile. Malbec was “discovered” by the new world wine-drinking public as a superb stand-alone culti- var for fruit-forward, dark, approachable wines with lots of depth. It’s a higher-elevation vineyard well suited to the cultivar. This 2019 Malbec represents the first time we’ve featured the site as a 100%, single-vineyard estate offering. Observant Kiona followers know that Sunset Bench vineyard features in many of our current and former wines, but always as a blending component. The fruit is highly sought after by Washington winemakers for its strong varietal typicity and opaque coloration – demand continues to outpace supply. The grape thrives here, producing wines of uncommon depth and complexity. In 15 years, Malbec grew from a 2-acre experiment to Kiona’s fifth-most-planted cultivar on Red Mountain. ![]() 12/14/2023 0 Comments Space shuttle launch pic![]() ![]() She said she'd never seen anything quite like this view of a shuttle launch before.
